What you should know about Voice over IP (VoIP) services – Part 2

January 31, 2010 · Posted in VoIP · Comment

Voip permits you to communicate with another person by encoding your voice in a digital format and sending it through the internet.

With voip you can get free calls if also the other one is on the internet.

To reach the traditional phone numbers you have to sign up with a service provider. You can call them through voip and they will route your call to the destination using the nearest gateway.

In this way they can offer very low fees for the call.

Also.. it’s not important the place where you are when you call..

The fee depends only on where you want to call.

Service providers can also offer a traditional number for incoming call. When someone, using a regular phone, calls that number, the call is routed to you by the provider using voip.

Also, if you live in US you can signup with an european provider and get a number in italy or something like that..

If you don’t want to use a computer to call, you can buy a voip phone and plug it directly to your router, or you can also buy an adapter for your traditional analogic phone.
