Are Adsense, Blogging & Pinging & What You Need To Do To Start

January 28, 2009 · Posted in Google Voice · Comment

Some of the very biggest buzz words on the internet right now are Adsense Blogging and Pinging. Many internet gurus claim these are the essentials for attracting visitors to your site and consequentially making those bucks through AdSense. This article will discuss adsense and the secret of blogging and pinging for fast adsense wealth accumulation.

AdSense is the name of an advertising service that is administered by Google. It allows webmasters to feature advertising on their websites, and thus generate extra income. Payments are made on the basis of either per click or per every thousand impressions. Geographical location, website content, and other related factors are used by Google to determine which Adsense ads to serve. The sites wanting to be advertised are able to sign up through a Google program called AdWords. It is no secret that one of the simplest ways to make money online is through Google AdWords. It enables you to readily market products for which you are an affiliate.

Adwords advertisers appear on the right hand side of any Google web page. Adwords advertisers pay Google every time a visitor clicks on their Adwords ad. The secret to doing well through Google Adwords is by paying as little as possible for your clicks, achieving a high click through rate, and a high sale conversion rate. The best kind of blog lets readers put in their 2 cents worth. People love to be able to voice their opinions, and tend to get frustrated when they can’t. Thus, the best blog is an online discussion web site that allows both you the web owner and your readers to voice their opinions on a specific subject. So where do you begin?

Well, for one thing, your blog needs to be specific to succeed, unless you’re a celebrity. People will go to Paris Hilton’s site to read just about any fool thing she writes off the top of her head, but don’t think you can do that. I know it’s not fair, but that’s how it is. If you’re not famous, you need to focus on a niche topic. For instance rather than run a Blog on dogs why not specialize in black labs or some other breed? The secret to doing well through Google Adwords is by paying as little as possible for your clicks, achieving a high click through rate, and a high sale conversion rate. The best kind of blog lets readers put in their 2 cents worth. People love to be able to voice their opinions, and tend to get frustrated when they can’t. I guarantee you, if you put a cute picture of a black lab with a red bandana around her neck up, you’ll have all the other black lab owners dropping by to tell stories about their own dogs.

Pinging, is how you tell the entire Blog community as a whole that your Blog site is up and running. Most Blog software has a feature that does this for you when a new post or comment has been made. To put Blog software on your own server and running it independently on your site, I have found Wordpress to be excellent software and this can be downloaded Blogging is the easiest way to get started making money with Adsense.

All the Information You Need

January 27, 2009 · Posted in Google Voice · Comment

Remember the days of calling 411 and hearing, “hello Operator” and before calling 411 cost from $1.25 and upwards? What about what I used to do in the early 90’s, calling the Chicago Public Library’s reference desk to answer questions that are now a click away on Google? Sure, I could have gone over there and done the research, but the librarians on the other end of the line were too happy to do it for me.

Well, there are a couple of newish tools and websites that allow you to have much of the same functionality all at your voice or if needed, fingertips, all of which are free. Why are these important to look at? Well, just as I described a few weeks back how the iPhone is more computer then phone, services like these make any phone more computer-like.

There are three services that I’ve been using for a while, all of which allow you to use your voice for tasks. First is 1-800-GOOG-411, Google’s answer to 411. A simple call and I get not only the number I’m looking for, but I also get connected or can get a text message with the number and address. GOOG-411 has been a around for a bit, so chances are you have used it already; if not, however, give it a go.

I find that while I’m driving is when ideas, to-do’s or follow-up’s come to mind, but I can’t very well stop or keep driving safely and write them down. So that’s where Jott comes in. Just out of beta, Jott is still free for the ad-supported version and low cost for the pro version. What is Jott? Well, think voice-to-text but with actions associated with it.

After an initial set-up through the Jott website, and a confirmation text with your phone, you’re ready to go. A simple call to (866) JOTT-123 / (866) 568-8123 and you can record to-do lists, send emails or texts, add an appointment in outlook, post to twitter or your blog, and even get Amazon prices/results back. This list keeps growing each day.

And while Jott works with any phone, there are applications for the iPhone and Blackberry. With Jott’s iphone application, a tap to the screen and you can record a message and use a second tap to stop. These Jotts are transcribed to text notes and become available on-line or on the phone itself as part of the notes.

Next up is ChaCha, which for the back-to-school crowd is like a cheat sheet on your phone. By either texting CHACHA (242242), calling 1.800.2CHA.CHA or twitter @chacha any question you have, you’ll get an answer back from one of their guides. Yes, a human at the other end. Now some questions like weather or stock are automated when you text message, but I find that I use ChaCha when I’m in a hands-free situation for anything I might have looked up on Google.

And ChaCha is also the ultimate bar/party bet decider, as we found out one night at a ping pong night over at CrowdSPRING. Questions like “how long is the conveyor belt at at Wal-Mart distribution center” or “what’s the largest public building” were handled with ease by the ChaCha guides. -note I mention CrowdSPRING because as a reader of this blog and TalentZoo, they are worth checking out, and most recently presented at DEMO and CNMS08, but I’ll cover them in a future post.

From my usage, these three apps are harbingers of another form of change in how we access and use data. For example, with GOOG-411, why would I pay for a call to 411 or if GOOG-411 isn’t finding my info, why not try ChaCha? And if I can’t or shouldn’t (walking, driving) use my phone’s keyboard, why not let my voice do the work with Jott or ChaCha?

I think these three tools are just the start; there are others as well but it’s the tip of the iceberg in how we now and will access data and information. Call it part convergence or part device specialty–either way, jump in and try them out, because there will be more to come.

How to make the most of Skype – Part 3

January 27, 2009 · Posted in Skype · Comment

In the modern era of high-tech communication we live in today, privacy is a must. Gone are the days when only nerds and important people had things like pagers; remember those? If you were really nerdy like myself and some of my friends, you didn’t just have a pager, you had an alpha-numeric pager…

Anyhow, getting back to the point. We all use tools like messengers, cell phones, etc.. It gets harder all the time to protect yourself and your family from predators of all sorts. Some want to chat, some to sell you something, others can have more nefarious intents. All modern communication comes with any number of protective measures you can use.

Today, I want to discuss Skype.

Most of one half of my family uses Skype; “the whole world can talk for free; to keep in touch with each other. Some like an aunt of mine and I have been members for quite some time, others have only recently gotten on the program. Everyone has at one time or another gotten a message from someone they don’t know, or might simply prefer not to.

The reaction unfortunately is to either not use the software, or run in an invisible mode which, while useful, makes it so nobody knows if you are on or not. If I could tell you how to use Skype, not appear offline, and only get messages from people you knew, would you be interested?

Let’s start with the status; or “Presence” as Skype likes to call them; options which many users mistake as Privacy Settings. When Skype is running you should see an icon by your clock for the software. Which icon you see depends upon which status setting you’ve selected (”figure 1 Skype icon and Status options)

There are the important status settings you can select:

Online. This is the automatic status setting when you are online and available.

SkypeMe!. Means you are happy to be contacted by people who are not in your contacts list.

Away. You’re signed in, but you’ve been away or haven’t used your computer for a while so probably won’t answer a call or instant message.

Not available. You’re signed in, but not used your computer for a long time, so aren’t available.

Do not disturb. You’re busy and don’t want to be contacted right now. In this setting the notifications of calls or instant messages will not be displayed.

Invisible. When you don’t want users to know that you are really online, choose this one and you appear offline. You can

Benefits of VOIP telephony for Small Businesses

January 26, 2009 · Posted in Lingo · Comment

Most businesses now look for a phone system that will allow them the access to advanced features and cut down on costs of which is normally linked to VoIP.

Though things might change in the near future, right now the phone is still the most relevant tool in business communication today and almost everyone depend in voice communication. VoIP has gradually been rising from a complex, unreliable, low quality service to becoming a mature, competitive and simple to manage and offering the best quality.

If you are a serious businessman and a tourist (rather travel so much) at the same time, VoIP services are the best to use. This is because your VoIP phone number is able to travel with you, you can connect to the internet anywhere and therefore can be able to communicate with your VoIP phone, the overall rate are always fair compared to the traditional telephony services and high-end services such as voice mail to e-mail including the multi-party conferencing are often included at no extra costs.

Diversification:

Due to the growing competition, it has led to the emergence of various VoIP service providers like Lingo, Vonage, Vonics, Skype and Packet 8. Even though each of the mentioned service providers offer different plans and options the basic features still maintain being the same and the costs are lower but there is a lot of flexibility.

VoIP Hosting:

If you own a company and it requires a lot or more complex telephony requirements than what can be provided by a single-line service and therefore in need of multiple lines, extensions and attendant features you are advised to try VoIP hosting of your telephone server. Your business can still use a limited budget by hosting VoIP in either way (By Custom built solution or a pre-configured appliance).

In house, server based solutions:

This make up as regular phone line but distribute the service to other extensions through an Internet Protocol (IP) and data wires instead of phone wires. This leads to flexibility of internal communication.

Quick Investment Return:

VoIP services are incredible for your business and switching to this service in most cases provide a quick return on investment this is due to the systematic facing off of the old fashion telephony and most of business voice communications are gradually shifting towards the VoIP paradigm.

Saves Time:

With hoisted VoIP, moving, adding or changing the phone system is simplified and made easy therefore saving time and extra costs-money.

Saves Money:

A technology is only considered to be user friendly when it is pocket friendly too, therefore, the capability to save on telecommunications charges is dully encouraged by VoIP services.

Call Centre Software – A Myriad of Roles And Responsibilities

January 26, 2009 · Posted in Softphones · Comment

Modern day call centres strive for superior customer service with matching efficiency at competitive costs. When this mission is supported by an effective management and control framework, the contact centre is likely to forge ahead towards impressive growth rates and enjoy a loyal and growing clientele.

To achieve high quality services and enviable growth rates, call centres have to depend heavily on specialised software such as call centre management software, predictive diallers, softphone diallers, VoIP call control, etc.

But these software tools can be expensive and different kinds of software are intended to suit different kinds of processes and turnover magnitudes. So how do you decide which one would suit your operations best?

Deciding on the best call centre software solution

Start by analysing your current message/call turnover and other functions. This analysis will throw up the following facts:

• Number of service requests per day, and per month.

• Channels through which a particular request is being made. In other words, which are the major media for the service requests, whether they are coming via phone, Internet, email, SMS etc.

• What is the primary nature of calls? Whether they are for after-sales service or for telemarketing or whether they are inbound or outbound.

• Number of agents handling the calls and whether there are multiple locations involved.

• Are there any parameters to judge agents’ performance? If yes, what are they and how effective are they in accurately measuring the performance.

• The type of phone system being used and the suitability of the same for your type of operations.

After you have analysed the different aspects of your call centre, match your requirements, budget and IT infrastructure with the features, benefits and cost of the call centre software products such as predictive diallers, softphone diallers, VoIP call controllers. This will enable you to buy the right one.

Once a particular software suite is purchased and implemented, the call centre management needs to understand how the software can help them in various tasks, especially in monitoring and assessment. Here is how it can be done:

How does the call centre software help the management tackle different issues?

Since call centre operations involve so many agents and so many different channels of customer-agent interaction, such as emails, web, voice calls etc., it is imperative that there is a high level of integration and monitoring.

Call centre software suites which come loaded with features such as, softphone diallers, VoIP call control, call centre monitoring software, call centre scheduling software etc. are of great help to the management to run its operations smoothly and maintain a high, yet discreet, level of monitoring and assessment. These technologies, in general, enable the call centre managers to do the following:

1. Manage various call centre tasks and functions better, as these software solutions give them a complete overview of the various processes.

2. Meet deadlines – call centre monitoring software affords the managers to schedule and assign various tasks as per the requirement and the recourses available.

3. Meet the performance criteria as chalked out in their SLA (service level agreement) – call centre monitoring software will give a clear picture of agents’ performance by providing key performance indicators.

4. With advanced call centre software, managers can analyse call distribution and trends as they relate to various demographics and even seasons. They are thus able to offer optimum solutions to the client.

5. Accurately forecast the future performance based on the past performance indicators as provided by call centre management software. This software even suggests ways to improve upon the past performance and helps implementing the solutions.

How to make a VOIP call from a cell phone – Part 1

January 22, 2009 · Posted in Skype · Comment

Voice over internet protocol (VOIP) is a great way to save money. Using VOIP, mobile phone users can place calls over the internet for free.

Skype is a popular VOIP internet phone service that allows people to place local, national, and international phone calls for free over the internet. Owners of Windows Mobile smartphones and Pocket PCs can download Skype software to their devices and begin placing free Skype-to-Skype VOIP calls over the internet.

Data usage costs apply for using Skype VOIP over 3G mobile networks (EDGE, EV-DO and UMTS). Therefore, Skype recommends an unlimited data plan.

Features of Skype VOIP for Windows Mobile

With Skype VOIP for Windows Mobile, the mobile phone user gets free Skype-to-Skype VOIP calls and free instant messaging using his or her Windows Mobile Pocket PC or smartphone. The mobile phone user can call non-Skype landline phones and mobile phones with Skype Credit or a subscription.

How to Download Skype VOIP onto a Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone

1) Before starting the Skype software downloading process, connect the Windows Mobile smartphone or Pocket PC to the computer by USB cable or Bluetooth. If this is done via a PC, make sure Microsoft ActiveSync is running.

2) Point the web browser to http://skype.com/download/skyp e/windowsmobile. The “Skype 2.5 for Windows Mobile page displays.

3) In the blue Skype 2.5 for Windows Mobile box, two options display: Download for Pocket PC and Download for Smartphone.

4) If the mobile phone user has a Pocket PC, click the Download via PC button on the left hand side to download Skype from the PC to the Windows Mobile Pocket PC. Directions for downloading via PC or downloading to phone are displayed. Alternatively, click download to Pocket PC in order to download Skype directly from the Windows Mobile Pocket PC.

5) If the mobile phone user has a Windows Mobile smartphone, click the Download via PC button on the right hand side to download Skype from the PC to the Windows Mobile smartphone. Directions for downloading via PC or downloading to mobile phone are displayed. Alternatively, click download to Smartphone in order to download Skype directly from the Windows Mobile smartphone.

Important Considerations Before Downloading Skype VOIP for Windows Mobile

The most important thing to keep in mind before downloading Skype VOIP for Windows Mobile is data usage. Data usage costs apply for using Skype VOIP over 3G mobile networks (EDGE, EV-DO and UMTS). Therefore, Skype recommends an unlimited data plan for the “free” VOIP to be truly free.

Even so, the additional cost of an unlimited data plan could be substantially lower than the mobile phone’s monthly bill if the mobile phone user frequently uses his or her texting and minutes. This is where Skype for VOIP Windows Mobile could potentially save the mobile phone user money.

Vonage Forum — Pioneering VoIP

January 22, 2009 · Posted in Vonage · Comment

Vonage VoIP Forum is one of the fastest growing communities meant for all those in Canada, U.K, and U.S.A. With over 2700 news articles, this forum comes to anyone as a wonderful web resource answering all the queries, one might have about Vonage. Dedicated to a commercial venture like a broadband phone company, it does not take away the individuality of Vonage VoIP Forum. Let us have a close look at the opening page that has separate places for Forum Community, Vonage News, Vonage Information and a good search option allowing you to search inside as well as outside the site. As you point at an item they stop and allow you to access the piece of information. With over 4 Vonage News RSS 2.0 Feeds and 13 Vonage VoIP Forums RSS 2.0 Feeds, almost anyone can have forum news and current topics in their website.

It is a breeze becoming a member of this forum, which takes a couple of minutes and one can easily be heard by posting comments in the Vonage VoIP Forum. In addition to this, a member of this forum can access the VoIP Speed Test – a very efficient tool. A growing herd of more than 23000 members is a statement in itself.

The Vonage Review Section is a kaleidoscope of critiques contributed by the service-users. Honest conversations and immediate advice is an unparalleled feature of this section. The easy sorting method with the help of letters makes it a good option where title and a score of the title are maintained. It helps users to know the ones, which ones have been frequently read and liked.

Without doubt Voice Over IP is a booming technology that has a wider perspective in small set-ups than larger commercial interests. Vonage offers are for a specific target populace and it was a pleasant surprise to see Vonage Review to have dissected each pros and con of the service. Be it the cost, features or positives, negatives, the section is candid in presentation and concept.

The Vonage® VoIP Forum – Vonage News, Reviews and Discussion section http://www.vonage-forum.com/forums.html is an attempt by the site to address problems faced while using the Vonage services. The queries include practical topics like ‘Internet Keeps Disconnecting‘, ‘not able to access my IP remotely‘, ‘Setting up Vonage in Bangalore using BSNL Broadband DSL‘ and the very interesting ‘ Vonage ComCast Dispute ’ – makes a good read. The sheer size of followers of the forum is amazing who come across from distant parts of the world.

The Vonage Canada Forum can be summed up by all the above and a mention of the uncertainty amongst Vonage users in Canada. The forum members there do a pretty good job of quickly answering back to the problems. A ‘long distance calls ‘query was responded to by at least 3 members of the forum. Almost 60 replies were in place for ‘unreachable 1-800 numbers’.

The forum has interesting queries standing out amongst them was one, which asked for an alternative to Vonage in UK. Surely fuelled by more commercial interests than genuine one – the replies to it have been apt and anyone can look into it, as was done by this reviewer. The vast array of topics discussed, is an important pointer to the craze for Vonage.

The Vonage VoIP Forum is one of the very few which offer a discussion platform entirely dedicated to Fax – Tivo – Alarms. This section has a very good sticky post describing ‘how to properly wire an alarm with Vonage phone’ complete with illustrations and very good instructions. With over 10000 views that is one of the best posts in the forum. With Vonage VoIP Forum presenting more than 300 pages in a minute, the quick access to the section is a relief to all those having doubts over the fax services.

LNP – Local Number Portability is the moot point of discussion. The section has queries such as “Verizon Customers – How long did it take your number?” which makes a good read and compare it with the services at Vonage – the decision is unanimous. An eye-catching ‘Vonage horror story‘ query turns out to be damp squib and which is why it received only one reply.

The Vonage softphone has a dedicated forum for itself, which discusses all the compatibility issues with Blackberry, Bluetooth headset and many more new gizmos. VoIP new products also feature in this forum along with polls on issues regarding the softphone.

Vonage VoIP Forum: Vonage In Print News has print news items related to TMCnet.com, Corpus Christi caller Times and articles from USA Today. The brief preview section is followed by a read more option for detailed reading, which would be better if done in red. The selection of news articles is impartial and pertinent.

More news come in the Vonage VoIP Forum: Vonage Press Releases which contribute significantly to the 380 stories spread over 38 pages. Important information regarding services launched in Western Europe, calling centers and the one on ‘Vonage Appoints Mike Snyder CEO‘ speaks about the service doled out to visitors of this forum.

The best part of the site is that it has an archive facility for access of past sections, news and posts. It covers all the material from May 2001 until February 2006 – which is an impressive collection of good advice and material. The stories have been well arranged keeping in mind that it is reflected in its user-interface.

The last section covered under this review is the one, which actually tells you whether Vonage Internet phone is available in your local area. The forum is not able to give the information itself and which is why it connects you to the broadband company for the very first time, to avail the opportunity. It is fast and reliable.

Now Talk Freely With the Help of Callback Service

January 20, 2009 · Posted in SIP · Comment

Communication technology is getting advanced with each passing day, this is the main reason why in the recent past, people have witnessed a revolution in the field of communication. However, even today calling international is still considered to be a big deal by an average income individual. Although, with the advent of Internet in daily lives of people, things have changed a lot but even then more cheaper calling still remains an issue that hasn’t been resolved till date.

Staying connected is the most basic requirement of a human being and this is the main reason why man is called as a social animal. Earlier in the prehistoric times, communication processes were tediously long processes and also were quite unreliable. After that, birds came into the picture and slowly the trend faded away. Finally, communication modes like inland letters, telegrams came onto the scene, but the problem of speed was still persisting. However, after the invention of telephone, things change rapidly. Things improved significantly after the emergence of Internet and mobile phones on the global scene.

Emergence of Internet in world also saw the evolution of IP telephony technology (commonly known as VoIP, Voice over Internet Protocol) side by side to it. Although this IP telephony which is also known by the name of Broadband telephony, did not grabbed many eye-balls on his debut but after a long wait, circumstances went into the favour of it and finally people recognised the importance of this revolutionary technology. The chief reason behind that being the dearth of cheap and decent quality mobile network service in the market.

But with call back service in prominence these days, things are looking much brighter for the people clamouring for cheaper means of communication. This is one service where users can call to their relatives and acquaintances in short time and that too quite cheaply.

In this service, the interested user can opt for any of the three ways of calling back. They are SMS (text messages) callback, web callback and last but not the least the traditional call back.

Starting from Traditional callback system, under this system, any person interested in availing this call back service can walk up to its desired service provider and can subscribe the connection from him. Before that the user will be asked to perform all the necessary formalities required to avail the services. After that the service provider will allot a unique callback number to the applicant for the particular place. For e.g. – a person who lives in UK has subscribed the connection from a service provider existing in US, then when the service will be activated he will be treated as a person making call from the United States. Hence, when the call is made by the subscriber, the call hangs up and after the callback service provider system confirms the actual identity of the user, the call proceeds.

By Web callback, user can just initiate the call by logging up the necessary website and filling in the required information in the space provided for it. Here, the user also have to fill in the number where he wishes to make the call.

Another type of international callback service is the Text message (SMS) callback service. Here, a user can initiate a calling service by sending an SMS. The message contains all the relevant or necessary information about the user, which also contains the number where he wants to make a call and his allotted callback number. After that, the same process is followed by the callback service provider system and things then proceed.

The best part of this international callback service is that the user can know the all the details regarding to the call made, check his/her account and can even recharge the account. Thus, international callback service is not only a cheap method to communicate with near and dear ones but also at the same time is quite effective too. Also, the users can enjoy a smooth and disturbance free talk session by the virtue of this callback service.

How To Prevent Your New Puppy From Play-Biting You So Hard That You Need To Visit A Doctor?

January 20, 2009 · Posted in SIP · Comment

One of the first dog training protocol you will want to initiate when you get a new puppy is to teach him to inhibit the force of his play-bites. It is not necessary to reprimand the pup, and certainly physical punishments are not called for. But it is essential to let your puppy know that bites can hurt. A simple “Ouch!” is usually sufficient. When the puppy backs off, take a short time-out to “lick your wounds,” instruct your pup to come, sit, and lie down to apologize and make up. Then resume playing.

If your puppy does not respond to your yelp by easing up or backing off, an effective technique is to call the puppy a “Bully!” and then leave the room and shut the door. Allow the pup a minute or two time-out to reflect on the association between his painful bite and the immediate departure of his favorite human chew-toy. Then return to make up. It is important to show that you still love your puppy, only that his painful bites are objectionable. Have your pup come and sit and then resume playing once more.

It is much better for you to walk away from the pup than to physically restrain him or remove him to his confinement area at a time when he is biting too hard. So make a habit of playing with your puppy in his long-term confinement area. This technique is remarkably effective with lead-headed dogs, since it is precisely the way puppies learn to inhibit the force of their bites when playing with each other. If one puppy bites another too hard, the dog who gets bitten yelps and playing is postponed while he licks his wounds. The biter soon learns that hard bites interrupt an otherwise enjoyable play session. He learns to bite more softly once play resumes.

The next step is to eliminate bite pressure entirely, even though the “bites” no longer hurt. While your puppy is chewing his human chew-toy, wait for a bite that is harder than the rest and respond as if it really hurt, even though it didn’t: “Ouch – Gennntly! That really hurt me, you bully!” Your puppy begins to think, “Good heavens! These humans are soooooo sensitive. I’ll have to be really careful when mouthing their delicate skin.” And that’s precisely what you want your pup to think: that he needs to be extremely careful and gentle when playing with people.

Your pup should learn not to hurt people well before he is three months old. Ideally, by the time he is four and a half months old (before he develops strong jaws and adult canine teeth) he should no longer be exerting any pressure when mouthing.
