With international culture picking up and companies opening offices in every country, it’s becoming more difficult to arrange meetings. This problem has been solved to an extent by conference calling services. In a conference call, three or more participants interact via telephones, video and Web. But this service can impose a huge financial burden on the company. PhoneFusion’s Meet Me Conferencing surpasses any other service.

The Free Conferencing calling system is a 24X7 service and operates on any kind of calling device: traditional phone, desktop softphone, cell phones and broadband phones. Free reservation less conferencing is also very popular. Conference services are free as they charge for voice center messaging, toll-free reservation and operator assistance. The Free Conferencing calling service can add to the services provided by entitling the user to download a softphone patron and connecting to any conference call.

PhoneFusion Meet-Me conference numbers are allotted on a one-time basis with a confirmation number to make sure a conference bridge is retained only for the particular party for a specific time slot. Communication is very important in business. You need to keep in touch with your customers, clients and business partners in order to keep your transactions smooth and avoid delays. A phone system is one of the most important purchases your business can make. It is often the easiest way to reach your clients and customers.

There are actually a lot of factors to consider when buying a telephone system. Of course, you will want to make sure its compatibility with other equipment you already own or may need such as voicemail, messaging on-hold, headsets, or conferencing equipment. You will also need to choose a phone system that supports all the features your business requires.

Internet Voice, also known as Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP, is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular phone line. It converts the voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that travels over the internet then converts it back at the other end so you can speak to anyone with a regular phone number.

When placing a VoIP call using a phone with an adapter, you’ll hear a dial tone and dial just as you always have. VoIP may also allow you to make a call directly from a computer using a conventional telephone or a microphone.

A broadband connection is required. This can be through a cable modem, or high speed services such as DSL or a local area network. You can hook up an inexpensive microphone to your computer and send your voice through a capable modem or connect a phone directly to a telephone adaptor.

VoIp or Internet Voice offers features and services that are not available with a traditional phone since it is digital. You will not need to maintain and pay the additional charges fro a line just to make telephone calls if you have a broadband internet connection.

Aside from that, with many VoIP plans, you can talk for as long as you want with any person in the world provided the other person you are talking to has also an internet connection. Furthermore, you can talk with many people at the same time without any additional cost. This is actually a great advantage for people who have families abroad. You can talk longer than usual. If you are using a telephone line it may cost you lots of money for long distance calls.

In addition to that, you may be able to use your VoIP or Internet Voice service wherever you travel as long as you have a high Internet connection available.

However there are some possible differences between traditional telephone service and VoIP. Some VoIP services don’t work during power outages and the service provider may not offer backup power. Moreover, VoIP providers may or may not offer directory assistance or white page listings.

Also, VoIP can cost a lot of money for some people. But most of the entities who are interested in this technology are large companies, but it can be significant even for the homemaker.

VoIP technology is still young. It is predicted to expand rapidly. As time goes by many people will be adapting this technology. The installation procedure for the gadgets required to take these calls is often simple.

Cisco 1841 Router Basic Overview

November 22, 2008 · Posted in Cisco · Comment

The Cisco 1841 router is designed for use in small and medium branch offices. The 1841 router aims for the lower end of the market making it one of the less expensive models designed by Cisco. The 1841 Cisco router has low failure rates and is considered enterprise class hardware. Typical of Cisco products, the 1841 has openings for standard Cisco cards offering network interfaces and features while utilizing the IOS software. With such a comfort level in the IT community for Cisco products and its IOS, setup time and maintenance typically require a minimal learning curve compared to competing manufacturers. This Cisco model is rack mountable making it fit much better into the wiring closet. However, it does have only one power supply revealing its intended place in the satellite offices rather than central routing for a big company.

This particular model comes with these features:

* 2 10/100 ethernet ports (copper – RJ45)
* 2 Wan Interface Card (WIC) slots for the ports of your choice
* 1 internal expansion slot
* standard pair of console/auxiliary console ports
* 1 USB port for console access (local device management)
* 128 Meg RAM; only expandable to 384 Meg.
* 1U height

Cisco’s 1841 is designed with thermostat activated cooling fans each having three speeds. The fan speed ajusts based on cooling demands which reduce noise and increase MTBFs. The 1841 routers come with internal clocks, but are dependent on a non-replaceable battery. Should the battery ever fail, ship the router to Cisco for a battery replacement, although it should be included in the warranty.

For Voice over IP implementations a separate appliance will be needed since the 1841 router capabilities do not include VoIP or voice even though it has 2 WICs. A single power supply is a drawback, but for most installations this means no redundant power supply. The Cisco 1841 router is a fine choice for a field office with less than 300 users depending on how they use it. A PIX firewall or smaller router is better suited for implementations of 20 nodes or less.

Whatever the router selection, Network Address Translation, a secondary Internet path to the headquarters, and a reasonable quantity of access control lists (ACLS) should be part of its capabilities.

Why Voip: it is the Best

November 21, 2008 · Posted in PSTN · Comment

The process of communication is an essential part of each and every stage of our life. Initially, the methods that we were using to communicate were quite expensive. However, the cost of the process of communication started to decline with the advancement in technology. As a result, nowadays, we are using some of the cheapest ways to communicate. The service providers of the latest means of communication are reducing their costs so that we, the people can get impressive and cost-effective ways of connecting and communicating with each other.

Nowadays, there are numerous service providers, equipment, tools, machines, setups, and devices that make our conversation unforgettable and valuable. These contraptions and different ways are providing better quality and low-price communication not only to individuals but also to large organisations and corporations. These contraptions and methods include technologies such as PSTN line, Internet, Broadband, mobile networks, and the most useful technology named Voice over IP. Now, the question comes that if you have a phone line or mobile connection then why make a call using Internet and why choose VoIP?

The answer is simple and straightforward. Voice over Internet Protocol provides the facility to make a call using the Internet and that too in a very cost-effective manner than any other available medium. VoIP, the acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, is a process of routing of a voice conversation over the Internet. After the launch of broadband in the Internet market, the phenomenon of Voice over IP has reached its top level and today it is being used by almost every person who uses the Internet. Nowadays, almost every corporation, whether it is large or small, is using IP telephony and Voice over IP solutions to facilitate their communication. This method brings down the expenses for the companies – particularly the infrastructural investment in their communication processes.

Some people may have a misconception about Voice over IP. There are those who might think that the VoIP service is a useless thing or service, as they often compare it with the basic PSTN Phone lines or mobile services. However, the process of routing your voice over the Internet networks is a much better option from any of the above mentioned services. The main advantages of VoIP include cost effectiveness and reliability. This telephony service costs far less than any other traditional phone lines or mobile connections, as it uses the medium of the Internet. On the other hand, if we talk about the reliability of this service, it provides completely encrypted base for people to exchange their views and ideas, and as a result, the chances of the users missing even a single bit of communication is very rare.

There are some other major advantages of VoIP. A user can avail this facility, wherever they want. This means that if a person is on a vacation, then he can take his VoIP device with him and connect it to Internet to make and accept calls on the regular phone numbers at the same rates that he was paying back home. Irrespective of the specific location of a particular person, the IP Telephony would never let him go out of reach. It also includes the facility of making the calls to any point of this world and that too at cheaper rates. In quite a few countries, the providers often provide the VoIP-to-VoIP calls for free. As the result, each user of this incredible service can make or receive calls for free. The user also has to pay lower bills in comparison with the normal PSTN phone or mobile services.

The VoIP providers sell some quantity of bandwidth to the wholesalers, and then the wholesaler transfers this service to retailers, and then the retailers provide us this service at their end. By providing greater facilities such as the capability to make Internet calls, the technology of VoIP, is delivering significant benefits to the users in terms of a decrease in call costs, an increase in call efficiency and the support of reliable broadband networks.

VoIP Protocols And What These Are For

November 9, 2008 · Posted in SIP · Comment

VoIP protocols are the technical codings that enable voice to be carried over the internet. There are several competing standards in that field. Here you have a brief summary of these.

Perhaps the most famous VoIP protocol is the H.323 standardized by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). H.323 is very sophisticated partially due to the fact that it is not just a strict VoIP protocol but also one for interactive data sharing, videoconferencing and audio/video processing. It is actually a conglomeration of several smaller protocols, namely:

• Transport protocols
H.225, H.235,H.245,H.450.1,H.450.2,H450.3,RTP,X.224.0
• Data protocols
T.122,T124,T125,T126,T127
• Audio protocols
G.711,G.722,G.723.1,G.728,G.729
• Video protocols
H.261,H263
• Fax protocol
T.38

Another smaller but very robust protocol is more geared to just VoIP. It is called Session Initiation Protocol and usually referred to as simply SIP. It consists of MIME, SDP and SIP itself.

MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol supported by Level 3, Bellcore, Cisco and Nortel) has also gained a substantial share of the VoIP market. Other main VoIP related protocols include Megaco H.248 (Media Gateway Control boasting great interoperability and backed by GTE, ICG, Netcom, Level 3,Sprint and founded by joint cooperation of IETF and the ITU-T Study Group 16), RVP over IP, SAPv2, SGCP and Skinny.

All these protocols are not always 100% compatible with each other therefore some possible standardization might by showing up there in the future.

And important factor in protocols application is bandwidth optimization. Signaling proxy operations are normally faster then the full proxy modes but perhaps the fastest are approaches like those of TDMoIP which deal with bundling together conversations going in the same direction.

Product reviews: Ventrilo

November 4, 2008 · Posted in Softphones · Comment

Voice over IP is new craze in telecommunications industry and majority of people around the world are adopting this technology with much faster speed. As the time passed by , there have been many updates to the VoIP platform and the technology has advanced to SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) based VoIP connections which means, a user can connect over the IP network and can use a VoIP softphone application like Ventrilo and can talk to any other user around the world.

Ventrilo has become a great softphone to be used for VoIP based calling and is compatible with multiple platforms like the Apple MAC and the Microsoft Windows. All you need is a sound card, speaker and microphone or headsets with microphone to talk FREE to another Ventrilo user over the internet. Not only that, Ventrilo also allows multiple calls to be placed from one user, giving a much wanted telephone conferencing experience along with several other features.

How do you get Ventrilo? Well, you can download the Ventrilo software from www.Ventrilo.com and install it on your computer. It will automatically detect the sound card and within in no time you shall be able to configure and adjust your headsets.

Until now Ventrilo can only be installed on MAC and windows but the future release will be compatible with Linux operating system as well. You can buy Ventrilo software license to install the product on Solaris, FreeBSD and NetBSD systems to get more VoIP functionality and service that can be further offered to other users or clients.

As a prerequisite, make sure you have a broadband internet connection in place, through which Ventrilo would perform exceptionally well with excellent call quality as if you were talking on a landline using real telephone. The call quality is normally controlled by the Codec used in the Ventrilo system which uses least amount of bandwidth in order to place an audible call as compared to other VoIP systems which takes almost 20k for each VoIP call connection.

When does a call suffer? If the user is running a dial-up connection the call quality will suffer due to low bandwidth which might not be a good test to perform to judge Ventrilo.

Ventrilo is currently available in two versions 2.3.0 and 2.3.1 (which is platform dependent). The software license was changed by the flagship industry to serve only 8 users as a limitation. PRO version also supports up to 8 user connections based upon the new license limitation. The Pro version is mostly purchased by only big hosting companies only.

Ventrilo has become a choice for many on the internet who eagerly care to talk to there loved ones across nations for FREE and with its reputed call quality. Recently it has been found that Ventrilo is also a first choice for majority of gamers who play and talk to there own team members over Ventrilo. The bandwidth allocation for Ventrilo is low and, that’s the reason for a gamer to play as well as talk to others simultaneously without much hassle which keeps them one step ahead of there rival team.

That’s not all; many tactical games can be worked out through team-work over a headset rather than chatting which have become outdated. The online gaming software for instant messaging Xfire is popular amongst others which in integrated with the Ventrilo server where all users are plugged-in.
