Still Confused Whether to Deploy Voice Over Ip or Not?
Technology has made a huge leap in terms of improvement over a period of years. Telecommunication industry too comes under this umbrella of consistent development. Gone are the day when your house or organisation would have numerous cable wires running from one room to another. With high speed Internet reaching ever nook and corner of the world, a relatively new technology has evolved as an alternative to your traditional telephony service namely Voice Over IP.
Voice over IP service is completely different from the traditional fixed line telephones in the way it operates. Unlike PSTN or public switch telephony network, VoIP utilises the service of Internet to transmit calls. However, a user of this service will dial and receive calls exactly the same way as he/she used to with PSTN. It offers an additional benefit of offering greater flexibility in terms of connecting to the world.
Besides using your old fixed line phone, you can also make voice over IP calls through your laptop or desktop computer, Internet connection being the prerequisite. In case you are using a fixed line telephone then you would also need an ATA which helps convert analog signals into small digital IP packets. In other words, it helps convert your voice in a format that would be understood by the computer.
A new method for utilising voice over IP call termination which though relatively new is fast raising the popularity charts is VoIP enabled phones or IP phones. They are handy just like your cellphone and so you can make and receive calls just like you would with your cell phone but at a much cheaper rate. Networking just became easier.
Quick Preview Of Advantages Of Voice Over IP termination
1. Minimum Call Cost – As mentioned earlier, voice over IP routes calls through Internet which enables calls be transferred at more than half the cost if you are calling a land line or a cell phone. If you are calling someone who is a customer of the same voice over IP service provider then your call would probably be completely free.
2. Quality Is Preserved – VoIP service maintains the quality while offering cheaper call termination rates. Lesser rates does not mean poor voice quality with voice over IP.
3. Billing Panel – Some premium Voice over IP providers provide CDR or call detail report by real time billing. This enables online billing solution, helps in monitoring accounts of your clients, easy recharge options et cetera. If you are a voice over IP reseller or wholesaler then this billing panel would prove to be greatly beneficial to you.
Vonage Offers Enhanced 911 Emergency Service
Vonage stands for Voice over Net Age that provides telephone service via a broadband connection. In order to get access to the service, the customers must use a VoIP router adaptor that connects to their main router or broadband modem. This is a popular service many Americans are now enjoying.
It was originally based in Edison, New Jersey but now has moved to Holmdel, New Jersey, the company has expanded into the country of Canada offering unlimited and unrestricted calls to the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
At Vonage, they also provide the traditional and usual dialing of 911 in times of emergencies. Dialing Vonage 911 is poles apart from dialing 911 itself. Because safety is important for the company, subscribers are asked to fill out a short form regarding information about the place they are living and some information about themselves so that in case of emergency, Vonage 911 can be a help for them.
Most of the customers of Vonage have the access of either the basic 911 or the enhanced 911 also known as E911. With E911 service, when you dial the numbers of 911, your telephone numbers and registered address is at the same time sent to the local emergency center assigned to your location, and these emergency operators can have access to the information they need about the caller therefore they can send you help right away.
On the other hand, with basic 911, the local emergency operator answering the call will not have your call back number or your exact location, so the tendency is that you will have to give them your exact location right at the time when you are calling because of the emergency.
Only after the operator had obtained your number and address, can he or she call you back or worse cant dispatch help if the call is not completed.
As Vonage customers, you must register to the Vonage the exact physical location wherein you will be using the Vonage phone service for each phone line. Also, you must inform them in case you move your device to another place, you must always register your new location. The process of registering the location is easy. All you have to do is to log into the features section of your web account and then follow the instructions written.
In case you failed to register your new location, any 911 call you make will be sent to any emergency center near your old location. Withstanding the address you register for a WiFi or SoftPhone emergency calls made from these devices will be routed to the Vonage national emergency center.
Bear in mind that dialling 911 services will not be functional in the situation of power outage or in case your broadband, ISP or Vonage service is terminated.
For added information and knowledge, please don’t fail to see the companies Term of Services about the dialling 911 feature of the phone. Their website can easily be accessed and searched through any search engine.
While there may have been some controversies in the past about its reliability, Vonage 911 continues to upgrade their services to provide their clientele the best 911 service it can offer. Being precautious is not a crime, having Vonage 911 can help you make that 911 call more efficient and capable.
How to Build Trust & Increase Conversions by Using Voice Overs on Your Sales & Landing Pages
Your website is a useful tool for making sales in your sleep, but could it be making even more money for you during those twilight hours?
Every good marketer knows: The MEDIUM is the MESSAGE.
When someone is reading your sales copy and about to make a purchase, all they really get from you socially perhaps is some cleverly written text that outlines the features and benefits that state why they should go ahead and take their credit card out of their wallet.
What if you could up the ante and reach those prospects on a heightened, more emotional level?
You can! How?
Use surprisingly affordable professional voice overs on the landing page or sales page.
Voice overs help to build trust and make an instant connection with the people who visit your website.
Adding a voice over isn’t just another bell or whistle to your website, you’ll be ingeniously employing another medium to help you communicate your message, in this case, delivering your message using audio via your website.
By getting up close and personal at the point of sale, you’ve found another way to persuade prospective customers to buy, and as a bonus, have also given the world a better idea of who your company is through audio branding, using the human voice to start a favorable relationship that is profitable and engaging.
And… like most people, you’re probably strapped for time and likely haven’t given too many “outside the box” ideas any consideration, but that’s where voice overs could really strike gold.
The majority of people haven’t considered (let alone know about) strategic placement of professional audio on landing pages & sales pages.
What could be better than a more personalized approach to welcome the visitor to your site and set the tone for a potential sale?
You can achieve that human connection by using the intimacy and power of the human voice by way of a voice over recording that puts your customers at ease when they are deciding whether to continue on, their visit ideally resulting in a purchase made at your website.
In short, adding a voice over to your sales & landing pages will:
1. Make your website more human
2. Encourage prospects to buy
3. Give the impression that you are present
You’ll notice a dramatic difference in how you can communicate with prospective buyers and establish a personal relationship without having to do the initial networking.
You may also see an increase in your conversion rates which is after all what you’re going for, right?
What should your voice over recording say?
Take a good look at the copy on the sales or landing page. Your voice over should be a conversational representation of the words on the page without “reading” the words on the page.
What I mean by this is that your voice over should elaborate on the points, not regurgitate them just as you would present a PowerPoint presentation. You may not read the slides verbatim, however, you do regard the bullet points on the slides as a guide and touchstone to move the conversation along and way of reinforcing the principal message leading to a successful conversion.
Once you have scripted your message, most messages being about 1 minute to 3 minutes in length, the next step is to have it professionally recorded either by an experienced “voice” actor or by you in a decent sound studio.
You can hire freelance professionals easily online, just post a job on a voice talent directory.
Customer privacy issues with Googles Gmail email service
Here’s the REAL STORY of how Gmail does violate our privacy rights :
http://www.privacyrights.org/a r/GmailLetter.htm
San Diego, CA, April 6, 2004 (Updated April 19) – The World Privacy Forum and 30 other privacy and civil liberties organizations have written a letter [inserted below] calling upon Google to suspend its Gmail service until the privacy issues are adequately addressed. The letter also calls upon Google to clarify its written information policies regarding data retention and data sharing among its business units.
The 31 organizations are voicing their concerns about Google’s plan to scan the text of all incoming messages for the purposes of ad placement, noting that the scanning of confidential email for inserting third party ad content violates the implicit trust of an email service provider. The scanning creates lower expectations of privacy in the email medium and may establish dangerous precedents.
Other concerns include the unlimited period for data retention that Google’s current policies allow, and the potential for unintended secondary uses of the information Gmail will collect and store.

Business and VoIP – A Perfect Partnership
VoIP can be used in many different ways by installing a software program on your computer and purchasing a headset with microphone adaptors used with regular analogue home phones. You can also purchase a VoIP phone that looks and acts like a normal house phone, but has specially designed chips to improve the quality of your phone call.
VoIP makes it possible for you to make multiple telephone call using your computer network through a data network similar to the internet. It converts the voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that then travels through the internet, converting back at the other end so you can speak with anyone who has a telephone line.
A VoIP adaptor or VoIP-enable phone converts any audio received into digital packets for internet transmission. It converts your voice using a special SIP protocol. If you were to make a VoIP call to another VoIP phone the complete opposite thing happens on the other end, and your voice is audible from the other. Your VoIP provider’s gateway will decode the call and shoot it off as an ordinary voice call to the telephone exchange (PSTN) if you were to make a call to a mobile or landline.
These programs are best suited for small – mid sized businesses with a few employees, especially those with multiple offices and remote workers. This allows all employees throughout the company at different places to be able to use the same telephone system, cutting the businesses telephone costs. Any calls to another VoIP phone user is free. Other calls are priced at a fair rate.
In order to make VoIP calls you will need to purchase a VoIP service through a provider. They will provide you with a VoIP external number. A standard 256 kb ADSL connection will allow two or three simultaneous calls which are necessary if you expect to use it more often. You can always upgrade to a higher-bandwidth deal.
