I have over 10 years of network experience and after doing some research and reading some reviews I decided to purchase the HBB1 device. What a let-down! Plugged it in as per the instructions and had NO internet connectivity on my network. Spend more than 2 hours checking everyhting on my network and could not get it to work…. The moment I would bypass this device, all internet connectivity worked. Bottom-line, this little device device does not do what it is supposed to do out of the box!

This device seems to have improved the voice quality of my VOIP calls and that’s why I bought it. So why only three stars? Maybe I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t have to waste the better part of a day tweaking it; it worked out of the box, just like the documentation and marketing literature said. I’m also not 100% convinced that this little box does anything at all, but it doesn’t give me any trouble and it’s cheaper than QoS from my broadband provider.

I bought this little baby for my network.. whch consists of a Gamerlounge router…Pc…Modem… And xbox…. Ioften experienced lag issues during the game… i would be orange or red meaning SORRy connection. Never green……… This caused me much frustration. After trying software optimizers.. I thought i would buy this baby. Hook up was a breeze, the boost light… (whch turnms a neon blue when boosting)which ia a good idea.. Tells you how much u r gaining…… I sign on to Xbox live… And … I have NO LAG…. The boost light is constitly on…… This was about 6 months ago… ANd still hve never went RED or ORANgE Again… Always GREEN…… i belkeive this is the best option to but if u r experienceing lag on xbox live…….. I give it 5 stars…..

Let me take that back; it DOES work, in the sense that it throttled a good amount of my bandwidth. I was getting a consistent 5 MBit connection speed…I set up the “booster”…and then my speed got no higher than 2.4MBit. !!!!!!! I followed the directions to modify the settings to see if it was something that was mis-configured, and I could not even get to the administration page.

I took it out of the chain and my speed came back. I think that the idea is good but the implementation needs work. Avoid for now.

This item is very simple to install; just plug it in between the modem and router.

The jury is still out on performance. I have Comcast 6MB/358.

There seems to be some slight improvement on throughput. I use Skype when I am gaming online (SWAT 4 and Ghost Recon).
